How to rank in Google Search is typically the first question on everyone’s mind when they start creating content online.
Before you get to the complex part that requires page optimization, content amplification, link building and so on, there is a basic requirement which requires that you officially ask Google to index your website.
How Do I Rank in Google?
Google Search bots crawl the Internet (World Wide Web) 20 billion times a day, and 130 trillion web pages were seen as at 2016. Google I/O ’18 Webmasters & Developers Conference.
After crawling the web, Google keeps record of pages and content discovered in its index.
So, when you execute Google search queries, you are served results from Google’s monstrous web index.. not that Google searches the web for answers to your queries as you type them in search bar.
If your website and its content is not indexed but you want to rank in search results… sorry, nothing for you.
How Does Web Indexing Work?
The web is like an ever-growing library with billions of books and no central filing system. Google uses software known as web crawlers to discover publicly available web pages and content.
Crawlers look at web pages and follow links on those pages, much like you would if you were browsing content on the web. They go from link to link and bring data about those webpages back to Google’s servers (index).

You may never get found via organic search results, IF Google cannot index your website. There are many reasons why Google may not be able to index your website.

How to Check Website is indexed by Google?
To see if your site has been indexed by search engines (Bing, Google, Yahoo etc), enter the URL of your domain with “site:” before it.
Example: Type “site:yourwebsite.com” in Google Search bar.
The search results will show all of your site’s pages that have been indexed, and the current Meta Tags saved in the search engine’s index.
How Do I Get Website Indexed by Google?
Apply for for your website’s inclusion in Google index with your URL via Google Webmasters Tools. You can as well apply for a specific web page or post to be indexed for fast discovery by Google crawlers.
Can I Get My App Indexed by Google?
Yes, you can… It is called App indexing.., There are basic guidelines for indexing apps based on iOS and Android requirements (known as App Store Optimization ASO).
